Embracing the community-wide support to help those in need and support local programs that have become more apparent during COVID, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Colorado Properties has partnered with Eagle County Animal Shelter to support its Adopt A Pet program.
As part of its commitment, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Colorado Properties will cover the pet adoption cost and fees for one local family or individual per month, including all required shots and vaccinations. Local residents can apply by first selecting their pet and then sending an email to info@bhhsproperties.com and in subject line, noting Adopt A Pet. The email should include the name/type of pet and why they would like to adopt it.

“Numerous studies have demonstrated the positive effects of owning a pet, including helping to alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness and social isolation,”
said Michael Slevin, president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Colorado Properties
“We also understand the very people who could benefit the most from having a pet at home are probably also faced with financial limitations that may preclude them from getting a pet. We hope to help those who need it most find a solution that brings them an added sense of security and companionship while also saving the life of an animal.”

While current demand is at a record low due to more families adopting pets during COVID, the shelter will continue to have ongoing needs for adoptions. “The pets have been going out almost as quickly as they have been coming in, which is great,” said Evelyn Pinney, member of the Eagle County Animal Services Advisory Committee. “However, we anticipate that as more people return to work and/or face financial hardship realities, we may see an increase in pets needing adoption as well as people looking for that needed companionship. Having Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices as our partner in pet adoption is a gift for both the pet and owner,” Pinney added.
UPDATE: Medley has been adopted!

From her new family:
We can not express enough of our gratitude to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Colorado Properties for your support and partnership with Eagle County Animal Services!
Because of the monthly newsletter that hit our in-box back on June 3rd announcing the partnership along with a pet of the month highlighting Medley, we found the most perfect addition to our family!
Medley – who is now Miss Maggie, is a little sister to our beloved puppy-girl Ajei (pronounced uh-jay)!!! We had been on the look out for a good match for Ajei and in the past 8 days since we brought Maggie home, her and Ajei have taken to each other like they were long lost BFFs!

Maggie is a curious young pup, very affectionate, loves to cuddle, is a great trail dog already following her big sister, and never leaves the house without her tennis ball! We will be introducing Maggie to so much more on our outdoor adventures while hiking, mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, camping, and of course snow! As Maggie’s back story has her coming from the La Junta area of Colorado so we are pretty sure the snow will be exciting for her this winter!
We are so blessed to have Maggie in our home and again we can not say thank you enough to you all and your organization for sponsoring a shelter pet and giving them all chance at a great life!
